Recycling News and Award Logo

GSA NCR Recycling Program has received the following awards and recognition:

  • NCR Recycling Program Wins Prestigious White House Award
    NCR's federal recycling team was one of 15 recipients of the annual White House Closing the Circle Award. Almost 200 nominations were submitted for this award, which recognizes outstanding achievements by federal agencies and their employees for their commitment to environmental stewardship. NCR has conducted a recycling program for all three branches of government since the late 1980s, when local recycling laws went into effect. Now, 100 buildings housing 100,000 federal employees participating in the project. In one notable fiscal year, NCR collected 8,683 tons of recycled materials that generated $440,336 in revenue. The volume of recycling saved 27,300 cubic yards of landfill space, 136,000 trees, 3.5 million gallons of oil, 36 million kilowatts of electricity, and 57 million gallons of water.
